Student life

A week at Living Wisdom

About 16 hours of live classes with teachers and classmates. Then off the screen and into real life — with an advisor who helps your child plan it, and checks in every week.

  • About 8 students per teacher. Everyone talks, asks questions, and is known.

Off the screen — and part of the diploma

These count toward graduation. Each week your child meets 1-on-1 with an advisor to plan and review every one of them.

Physical exercise

5+ hours a week

Any form that resonates: sports, martial arts, dance, bodybuilding, rock climbing, running.

Personal expertise

5+ hours a week

One skill pursued toward mastery with an advisor: an instrument, cooking, woodworking, web design, starting a business.

Service

Every week

Tutoring, dog walking, a food shelf, a community project. Students learn the joy of helping others.

Reading

Every week

A book of their own choosing, with a page goal matched to their reading level.

Earnings

Through the year

Students find a way to earn and learn to manage money. What they earn helps pay for their Service Adventure Trip.

Time management

Every week

Each student builds a weekly time-block schedule that balances schoolwork, exercise, service and play.

The Service Adventure Trip

Each year, students meet their classmates in person for one to two weeks of travel and service somewhere new. Past trips: Switzerland, Mexico, Peru, and Assisi, Italy.

Friendships that started on a screen become real. And because students help fund the trip with money they’ve earned, they own it.
